COLOUR DEPTH Definition

DEFINITION Color depth or bit depth is the number of bits used to represent the color of a single pixel in a bitmapped image or video frame buffer. This concept is also known as bits per pixel (bpp), particularly when specified along with the number of bits used.
Example on the left :)

FRAME BUFFER Definition

DEFINITION: A framebuffer is a video output device that drives a video display from a memory buffer containing a complete frame of data.
Example on the left :)

COMPRESSION Definition

DEFINITION: To compact data to save space.
Example on the left of two types of compression lossy and lossless

FILE EXTENSION Definition

DEFINITION: A file extension is the suffix at the end of a filename that indicates what type of file it is.

RESOLUTION Definition

DEFINITION: the number of pixels per square inch on a computer-generated display; the greater the resolution, the better the picture.
Example before and after :)

DPI (DOTS PER INCH)

DEFINITION: An abbreviation for dots per inch. Refers to the resolution at which a device, such as a monitor or printer, can display text and graphics. Monitors are usually 100 dpi or less, and laser printers are 300 dpi or higher.
An example on the left :)

CPU Definition

DEFINITION: The main box with a large, but limited memory storage space for saving data and for transferring data. It is the "main brain" of your computer set-up.
An example on the left

MORPH Definition

DEFINITION:A lenticular effect that begins with one image which is transformed in stages to a second perhaps unrelated image. Transforming a shape image or object smoothly from an initial state to a different final state, also called "tweening"

FRAME Definition

DEFINITION: A single one of a series of still transparent pictures.
An example on the left :)

FPS (FRAMES PER SECOND) Definition

DEFINITION: The speed at which still images (frames) in a video or animation are played in succession by an imaging device; sometimes expressed as hertz (Hz). NTSC standard is 29.97, PAL and SECAM are 25 and much more.
On the left an example of FPS :)

Mirror Definition

DEFINITION: An image that is reversed from left to right and in some cases any direction, as it would appear if seen in a mirror, a reflection.
On the left is an example :)

Crop Definition

DEFINITION: When you crop an image or photo, you remove part of the image. This may involve cutting some of the image from the left, right, top, bottom, or any combination thereof. It may also mean just cutting out a small rectangular of the image.
In the picture on the left you can see a cropped image, the grey shaded part is the original and the coloured is now the real picture.

Video Card Definition

DEFINITION: A video card is a device which is insidea computer or gaming console.
This card displays graphics to your monitor or TV. Games, videos and going on the internet requires a video card. The type of media that you want to view may depend on the what type of video card you have. \

Example of a video card

Flip

DEFINITION: When you flip something such as a picture, you basically turn the perspective of it, it is featured in various angles.
Shown in the following picture!

BMP Definition

DEFINITION: The BMP file format, sometimes called bitmap or DIB file format (for device-independent bitmap), is an image file format used to store bitmap digital images, especially on Microsoft Windows and OS/2 operating systems.

Pixel Definition

DEFINITION: In digital imaging, a pixel also known as a picture element is a single point in a raster image. The pixel is the smallest addressable screen element, it is the smallest unit of picture which can be controlled.
EXAMPLE

.JPEG Definition

DEFINITION: .jpeg is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital photograph. The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality.
Example of .jpeg picture :)

.GIF Definition

DEFINITION: GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format. They include data compression and is suited for simple graphics where the colors are limited. The images may be animated or transparent.
